Title of the Practice : Project UDAAN

(The Institutional Social Responsibility Project)

The Project UDAAN of Kokrajhar Govt. College is an effort to transform students, faculty members, staffs and people who come into our contact, towards socially responsible citizens. This is an initiative to offer platforms to connect the students from different streams in academic as well as extra-curricular activities arranged through different societies and clubs. This Project engages students and teachers as well as the management to learn how to give back to the society that gave them the opportunity to be at this College. Method: The objective of Institutional Social Responsibility is achieved through two vital parts of the college: the management and the students. Therefore, college engages students to learn beyond curriculum, inter-connecting students, society and nature.

Objectives of the practice:

1. To address social, economic, and environmental concerns in order to create a sustainable future
2. To impart quality higher education by nurturing intellectual and scientific temperament in keeping with Indian ethos and values
3. To ensure Leadership Skills in students
4. To shape students with the skills and knowledge required to become socially responsible citizens.

The Practice:

1. Community Services by NSS and NCC
2. Awareness camps in the villages on health & Hygiene, livelihood programmes and social issues
3. Partnered with schools to collaborate on activities that promote academic, environmental and social responsibility
4. Promotion of Indian languages
5. Certificate Courses to encourage entrepreneurship amongst the students
6. Field trips for students to sensitize on economic, social, and environmental concerns of mankind
7. Organize Mental Health Awareness programme
8. Observes World Environment Day, Earth Day and organises plantation programme
9. Awareness programme on environment and sustainable practices and biodiversity
conservation 10. Reduce carbon footprint
11. Student Support to obtain scholarship provided by government agencies and Trusts
12. Support students in distress
13. Social Support to community
14. Opening library for the inmates in Kokrajhar District Jail.

Impact of the Practice

The following impacts have been noticed among the stake holders –
1. Students actively volunteers for community outreach programme.
2. Entrepreneurial skill of students achieved through Certificate Course.
3. Significant rise in women involvement in decision making since last NAAC Accreditation
4. Green cover of college increased and students have become ecologically conscious.
