NKB Central Library
DESCRIPTION
Nilkamal Brahma Central Library of Kokrajhar Govt. College is fully automated library that has implemented a library automation system, which uses computer and RFID technology to manage library operations and services such as circulations, acquisitions, serial control and other functions using SOUL (Version 2.0) Integrated Library Management Software (ILMS). Patrons can search for and access library resources using online catalogs and databases through OPAC and Web OPAC. Patrons can check out and returns materials using self issue/ return system or at circulation desks, and access electronic resources such as e-books, e-journals and online databases such as N-LIST, DELNET, Institutional Repository Software i.e., DSpace and other digital databases from multiple computer terminals or digital library.

LIBRARY POLICY
- Book Acquisition Policy
- Books and other publications can be recommended for purchase to the Central Library by faculty members and students.
- The list of books that the Faculty has requested be purchased for each departments should always go through the appropriate Head of the Departments.
- Students can suggest books to the central library for direct purchase.
- The Library is free to place orders with any reputable vendors. When the faculty needs books immediately, they can get them from online book retailers like amazon.com, flipkart.com, etc. using the cash-on-delivery payment option after consulting the librarian.
- The concerned personnel in the Acquisition Section confirm the price of each book and the discount rates once the books and bills have been received in the library.
- After receiving books in the library, each book is listed in the Accession Register, which contains all the necessary information about the book, including its price, publisher, seller, year of publication, etc.
- After that, the bills are sent to the Principal i.e. Chairperson of the Library Advisory Committee (LAC) for payment with the accession numbers listed against each item.
- Weeding Out Policy
- The library staff creates a department wise list of outdated books that haven’t been used in the last 15 years.
- The list is forwarded to the departments in question for review. After being reviewed by the concerned departments, the list is approved by Library Advisory Committee (LAC) for weeding out the books.
- The approved books are removed from the library stack and made freely available to users for academic usage.
- The Kokrajhar Govt. College and the Bijni College have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the recycling of academic disposals, therefore books for the remaining titles are sent to the Bijni College for recycling.

Digital Library
Separate digital library is available at Nilkamal Brahma Central Library where patrons can access e-resources through computers and e-reader devices (Kindle) retrieving e-resources from NLIST, DELNET, Amazon Kindle store, Google Scholar, CiteSeerX, JURN, JSTOR, National Digital Library of India, Google Books, Project Gutenberg, Internet Archive, Shodhganga etc. For the Institutional Repository, DSpace software is also deployed in order to store digital course materials. Students and faculties are given individual NLIST and DELNET ids for remote access, which can be viewed by anybody having an id through an internet connection.

Rules and Regulations of the Library
- The library is open every working day from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
- Books will be issued on the production of library smart card.
- Libraries are generally quiet places for reading and studying, so visitors are expected to keep their voices low and avoid making noise that could disturb others.
- Users should respect other’s privacy and space in the library. Avoid disturbing others by engaging in loud conversations, eating or drinking, using mobile phones except academic purpose is strictly prohibited.
- Users should handle library materials such as books, magazines, and CDs, computers, e-book readers (Kindle), water filter etc. with care to avoid damage or loss.
- Students are expected to return borrowed books on time. Books must be returned within 21 (twenty-one) days, beyond that shall have to pay an overdue fine ₹ 5/- per day.
- Stealing, defacing or damaging library property is not allowed. This includes writing on or tearing pages of books, or taking library materials without checking them out. Such activities done by the users are punishable offence with penalties.
- Sleeping or napping in the library is not allowed.
- Check the book thoroughly before leaving the Counter.

- U.G. students, 4 books for 21 days

- Teaching & Non-Teaching Faculties:
- Regular and Contractual faculties can issues maximum 6 books for 90 days.
- Students:
- At the end of the academic year, all books along with the library smart card must be returned to the library.
- Reprography facility is available in the library at the rate of Rs. 2 per page (Single & Both), printing facility at Rs. 3 (B&W, single & both) and Rs. 5 (colour, single & both) for maximum 30 pages. This facility is exclusively for “academic purposes”.
Activities of the Library
- User Orientation Program: At the beginning of the new academic session new students are oriented about the facilities and services of the library.
- Display of new arrival: This is a regular activity of the library.
- Correction Center Library: Kokrajhar Govt. College Library founded the Correction Center Library at the District Jail of Kokrajhar as a part of initiatives to rehabilitate prisoners in society.
- Readers Club.
- Feedback from Visitors: The visitors’ note register is used to collect visitor comments.
