Kokrajhar Govt. College Alumni Association

Kokrajhar Govt. College has a large community of its alumni. Most of them have turned out to become the leading lights of the society. The dreams of the founding members of the College have turned into a reality due to the achievements and contributions of these alumni. Significantly, its alumni have contributed tremendously towards the growth and development of this backward region by contributing their bit in the fields of culture, literature, academics, and by providing political leadership to the marginalized people of this place.

For a very long time there was NO platform through which this army of alumni could give back to its alma mater. For that reason, some prominent alumni took the initiative to form an association of its alumni and with the cooperation of the College authority formed the Kokrajhar Govt. College Alumni Association on 22nd of September 2003 Sri Prafulla Kumar Hazoari, ACS and Dr. Shickna John Wary, Associate Professor, Department of English as the founding President and the Secretary of the Association respectively. The Alumni Association has framed a written constitution with a vision to:

• Play a key role in extending cooperation in the growth and development of the alma mater.
• To provide academic support and guidance.
• To provide a platform for the alumni to contribute towards their alma mater.

As a small step towards this direction the Association has formed a trust fund to sustain the Association in the future. The interests accruing from the fund is utilized to regulate the key objectives of the Association such as giving awards, conducting careering counseling, and assisting the institution in improving academic qualities. The Association confers Best College Students Award to meritorious students in both Arts and Science streams every year, and organizes Seminar for the academic growth of the College.

For a very long time Kokrajhar Govt. College was one of the few institution of higher education in lower Assam dedicated for the poor and the marginalized. Kokrajhar Govt. College was founded in 1959 with a noble vision of providing quality higher education to the socially and economically disadvantaged sections of the society. For this reason it stands apart from the rest. Beginning its journey from a rented accommodation it has evolved over the years to become a government college. Over the years it has added new courses and subjects. Currently, the College authority is actively working towards the introduction of new and job oriented courses, to introduce Post Graduate courses in the existing departments, and for improving the overall educational environment and physical infrastructure of the College. The College is constantly trying to live upto the demands of the globalised world. With limited resources it has pursued to provide quality education and equip the students with strong foundation. Towards the fulfillment of this vision and mission of the College Kokrajhar Govt. College Alumni Association, as a community of its past students is a part and parcel of the College and is a platform for its alumni to contribute their bit, however small it might be, towards its alma mater. The Alumni Association invites the alumni of the College to take an active part in this noble journey.
