Year of Establishment: 2015
Kokrajhar Govt. College was established in 1959 with a few departments of Arts stream. The department of Sociology is very nascent in this college. With an effort and initiative taken by the then Principal Dr. Binoy Kumar Brahma, the department of Sociology was introduced and established in the year 2015. The subject was initially introduced in Higher Secondary level. Later on in the year 2017, the subject was introduced in the Under Graduate level with Major as well as General Courses. Since the introduction of the subject, the department has tried to do justice to the students. In spite of its faculty shortage, the department has always tried to do its best. Mr. Manoj Kumar Basumatary joined as the Head of the department since its inception.
At present the department is trying its best to render its service to the students.
