The Department of Botany is one of the prominent departments of the college. The department is a pioneer in imparting Science Education in the concerned area. The department introduced Botany General course in 1972 and the Major course was started from the year 1993 under Gauhati University.
At present the department is trying its best to render its service to the students.

Laboratory Facility
The department of Botany has modern laboratory facilities to carry out all the major practical classes. Some of the equipments available are: Binocular Microscope, Department are B.O.D. Incubator, Laminar air flow bench, Bacteriological Incubator, Double Distillation Plant, Hot Air Oven, Digital Electronic Balance, Colorimeter, centrifuge, Soil testing kit, Digital pH meter, etc. The students are given free hand to handle the equipments with proper assistance by the teachers.
Classroom and Library Facility
Classrooms equipped with LCD projector and Microphone system. There is a departmental library comprising of over 500 books and references which are issued to the students.
The Department follows a sincere and systematic teaching procedure with modern aids such as audio-visual methods, microphone system, computer power point methods etc. to make the procedure of teaching a student friendly one.
